Bethanie Menden: Im using ZumoDrive (you can say internet usb flash) that can storage the file to 2gb for free (more than that you need to pay according what you added every month). I ever try to too my file from my desktop to my laptop via linked folders. Even My desktop is off, some of the file (small file like picture) i can download it.
Delmy Varano: Just ensure you do not have ports which might be being forwarded to your laptop out of your router. Attempt to set up a software firewall and preserve an eye fixed on applications that use the web very most often or each time your laptop is being accessed (only if that you can notice it). Plug out your Ethernet/wi-fi card if it will get too dangerous and backup any knowledge that probably priceless.

I think what you might be asking is: How can I keep the computer powered off then have it wake up when I want to connect to it over the n! etwork? Omar Phipps: The hard drive has to be spinning for you to access data on it, which requires power to be on.If you want the data to be accessable when the computer is off, you can create whats called a SAN, or storage area network. The SAN consists of a disk storage array, which is just a box of disk drives but without the cpu/OS of a normal computer. The disk storage array connects via fiber cables to all ! the computers in your environment, and then you map the "SAN" ! as another drive and write to it as you do to your C: drive. The other part of the SAN is the fiber cards ( host bus adapters or HBAs ) that get installed in eachcomputer, and the fiber cables that string it all together. Note that in this setup costs more enough that it's common in business but rarely seen in residential applications. Also, you would still need to keep the disk storage array powered on in order to access the data on it.Most folks just buy a USB hard drive for $75 bucks and plug that into whichever computer theyare using at the moment....Show more
Hugo Pittari: The computer has to be on and connected to the network to access any files on it.You would need to create a server for your network and safe all files to it (each computer on your network would have a "drive" on the server. then you could access any file as long as the server was on.What you are trying to do is walk through a door without opening it.
