Is it bad for your discs (dvd, cd, dvr, etc.) to set them on a speaker? Does the magnetic force do damage?

Marya Fehn: It won't hurt CD, DVD or DVRs, because they are not magnetic discs the way the old-style floppy discs were. They would require heat and intense light to change their properties and destroy the data on them.
