Need Japan study abroad ADVICE? :D?

Connie Dickirson: I dont know how you define a prestigous Univesity?Tokyo is too noisy , fast life and too many party animalsHiroshima should be a cool place and will be easier to advance language skills and make Japanese friendsStaying in a dormitory in Hiroshima will definitely improve your Japanese but you must self discipline your self on routines , procedures and time to a very great extent than any home stay.Never be political in Hiroshima ( ie saying that US was right to drop the atomic bomb andetc) you will loose all your Japanese friends overnight. Do visit the Peace museum and try to understand what it was like to be hit by the atomic bombIn Japan the greated advantage you can have is knowing how and when to speak JapaneseJapanese like any other people will be your friends if you are sincere and show genuine interst and remember the names and Greeting wordsWith your Chice I will always choose Hiroshima...Show more

Lonnie Jehle: I live in Kobe right now. I'! ve also visited Tokyo and Hiroshima. What I would like to say is that if you decide to study abroad in Tokyo, you won't learn Japanese as quick as being in other places where there are less gaijins. I've decided to do my study abroad in Kobe and I loved it since it's not too quiet but it's not too busy. I live 30 minutes away from Osaka which is basically the party district. (Tokyo doesn't even compare close to it)To be honest, Tokyo isn't as great as what people think of it to be. It's just an opinion but all of my friends who were in my study abroad program had the same opinion. Hiroshima seems alright and is a beautiful place for sure. However, the night life isn't too great. Try to think of what you are looking for in your study abroad experience! (I really don't think Tokyo is a good place to learn Japanese, however.) Since you're going to further advance your Japanese language skills and to make a lot of Japanese friends, I would lean more towards Hiroshima rather than! Tokyo although I really recommend Kansai area.I'm not sure ab! out which university is considered great and such but if you are studying abroad from your university's program, since you're not even graduating from the Japanese university so I don't think it should matter too much.I would definitely recommend doing homestay. It will help you a lot with your Japanese and get to know more of how real Japanese live and do.People in Tokyo is a bit cold from what I've experienced compared to people from Kansai area. That's all I can tell you from my experience. But don't just take my word but really research and see what you want in your study abroad experience.Hope you have a great study abroad experience....Show more

Tobie Oshea: Of path it is bigger to research the language earlier than coming, however If you reside in Tokyo, there may be just about little need for it as just about all indicators are in English and you'll uncover English speakme support at almost all govt workplaces. I've recognized individuals who've lived right here for 10 years or extra and cannot even use ample Japanese to reserve in a restaurant, however they may be able to nonetheless control to reside right here simply exceptional. Often instances individuals in Tokyo will simply talk English to you for no motive, or despite the fact that you talk Japanese to them. In rural locations of Japan, individuals are so much much less prone to be of a p! rime degree of English capacity, however extra generally than no longer! they're going to appreciate realistic terms. In Kyoto such a lot indicators can be in English from what I take into account (It's been approximately eight years given that I've been there even though). As a long way as finding out, you are going to be exceptional. Your classmates all research English and can as a rule be awesome excited to train you Japanese and to check out their English on you. I believe it might be a exclusive enjoy....Show more
